Duties

Supervises activities of four Assistant FSNI personnel and two security clerks, equitably assigning operational responsibilities including investigations of all types, DS Rewards for Justice Program walk-in interviews, collection of open source reporting of security interest, and security support for CODELs and VIP visits.  Coordinates (or, when appropriate, delegates coordination to A/FSNIs) among multiple Government of Jordan police, military and intelligence agencies to provide security support for VIP/VVIP visits.  Carries out liaison with mid- and high-level GoJ contacts on RSO-related issues including threats, investigations, and security operations issues.  Independently makes decisions based on Embassy policy, his/her own experience, and general guidance from S/FSNI or RSO.  Provides security advice to S/FSNI and RSO based on private and open information sources, as well as cultural and historical background and local/political sensitivities.   Both conducts background investigations and oversees investigative work of other FSNIs.  Reviews all background investigations for completeness and accuracy prior to submission to S/FSNI or RSO.  Oversees or conducts investigations related to terrorism, criminal activity, misuse of U.S. Government property or defalcation of funds, personnel suitability, and other issues in support of both DS and other USG law enforcement and security agencies under the direction of the S/FSNI or RSO.  Attends Crisis Management Exercises as an RSO representative.  Assists RSO with security surveys of hotels, schools, ports, airports, and other external soft targets.  Incumbent must always be prepared to respond to embassy internal and external emergencies.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE:  Five years of law enforcement, military, private security, or investigative work experience is required.


JOB KNOWLEDGE:  Must possess knowledge of the inner working, command structure and operational and administrative procedures of Jordanian security agencies, as well as of the U.S. Embassy and the roles of various sections and agencies.  Must have ability to develop and maintain close, mid- to high-level relationships within the GoJ security infrastructure.  Must have a solid grasp of GoJ criminal and civil procedures, customs, and culture.  Must have advanced understanding of physical, procedural, and information security concepts.  Must have broad expertise in investigative procedures, concepts, and applications.


Education Requirements:


Bachelor degree from an accredited four-year Jordanian institution or international equivalent is required. 


Incumbent must also have acquired follow-on security and/or law enforcement training at an established U.S., private, international or Government of Jordan training institution.
