Job Summary

Abt Associates seeks a qualified IT Coordinator for the Local Health System Sustainability Project’s Jordan Activity (LHSS/Jordan).The LHSS Project is USAID’s flagship initiative in integrated health systems strengthening, with a goal to help low- and middle- income countries transition to sustainable, self-financed health systems as a means to support universal health coverage. LHSS/Jordan in particular will support the Government of Jordan’s (GOJ) efforts to improve health care professionals’ competencies to deliver quality health services through the institutionalization of a mandatory continuing professional development (CPD) system for professional license renewal. The Activity will also work with the Ministry of Health (MOH) and private sector on strengthening the Jordanian contact tracing system, providing rapid support to the country’s immediate COVID-19 diagnostic capacity, providing assistance to private and public sector partners for COVID-19 case management and surge support, and advocating to develop a legal framework for telemedicine services.

This is a full-time position based in Amman, Jordan, working under the supervision of the Activity’s IT Manager. 

Key Roles and Responsibilities

The IT Coordinator will have the following specific duties and responsibilities: 

Provides technical support for: 

Information technology functions for MOH CPD national IT system implementation and/or other partners

Data cleaning processwithin the MOH Licensing department 

Support the IT Manager in imaging and joining laptops to the domain 

Provides technical support on resolving IT issues, and discusses problems, diagnoses, software/hardware issues in a timely manner;

Installs, configures, troubleshoots, and repairs PCs, laptop computers, and peripheral equipment in accordance with company standards and ensures they are functioning properly. Installs software upgrades when required;

Monitors spare parts inventory on a regular basis, keeping manager informed when inventory levels are low in order to ensure adequate on-hand supply of all necessary parts;

Ensures the smooth operation of office internet connection and regularly checks the flow provided by the ISP to enable staff to work in optimal conditions; and

Tracks incidents and requests using the IT ticketing system.


Preferred Qualifications 

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field, with at least 6 years of experience.

At least 3 years demonstrated experience building human resources databases and web-based CPD or electronic human resources management systems. 

Ability to provide technical oversight to junior programmers and consultants.

Strong English writing/speaking skills and fluency in Arabic required. 

Minimum Qualifications

(4+) years and bachelor degree of experience OR the equivalent combination of education and experience.
