Job Summary 

Abt Associates seeks a qualified Operations Assistant for the Local Health System Sustainability Project’s Jordan Activity (LHSS/Jordan). The LHSS Project is USAID’s flagship initiative in integrated health systems strengthening, with a goal to help low- and middle- income countries transition to sustainable, self-financed health systems as a means to support universal health coverage. LHSS/Jordan in particular will support the Government of Jordan’s (GOJ) efforts to improve health care professionals’ competencies to deliver quality health services through the institutionalization of a mandatory continuing professional development (CPD) system for professional license renewal. The Activity will also work with the Ministry of Health (MOH) and private sector on strengthening the Jordanian contact tracing system, providing rapid support to the country’s immediate COVID-19 diagnostic capacity, providing assistance to private and public sector partners for COVID-19 case management and surge support, and advocating to develop a legal framework for telemedicine services.

This is a full-time position based in Amman, Jordan, working under the supervision of the Activity’s F&A Manager. 

Key Roles and Responsibilities

The Operations Assistant will have the following specific duties and responsibilities: 

Supports the F&A Managerand the Grants Specialist with day to day project logistics, finance, procurement, travel, and administrative operations

Office Operations

Establishes systems for weekly inventory of basic supplies (i.e, printer paper, ink, cleaning supplies, etc.)

Maintains a central filing system for required documents and forms

Schedules office cleanings and routine maintenance, as needed

Coordinates the organization of local meetings under the supervision of the F&A Manager

Negotiates hotels, transportation, and meal arrangements

Other clerical and administrative duties as assigned

Welcoming visitors and answering phone calls 



Assists in drafting RFQs, PRs, and POs as well as contributes to bid analysis underguidance of the F&A Manager

Checks petty cash payments and periodically reconciles petty cash balances

Responsible for coordinating with the driver on transportation needs

Audits and verifies the project vehicle log

Arranges all logistics needed for internal and external meetings

Responsible for keeping a record of maintenance contracts, vehicle registration renewal, etc.  

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business management, or other relevant field preferred. 

2 years’ professional office management, operations, and finance experience, preferably on USAID funded programs. 

Excellent management, organizational, and computer skills. 

Strong English writing/speaking skills and fluency in Arabic required. 

Minimum Qualifications

( 3+ ) years of experience OR the equivalent combination of education and experience.
